tech update end of life future business

Are you ready for the future?

The way you feel about something today could be completely different to how you feel tomorrow, next week or even next year. A recent study found that 90% of businesses felt confident that their IT systems were ‘best in class’. How long will this last though?

It might surprise you to know that the same study showed that:

  • Although 90% of business leaders felt their IT systems were ‘best in class’, only 39% felt that their current IT system was future ready.
  • Furthermore 64% worry that their technology might be getting outdated.
  • Around half the tech used by businesses was at its end-of-life.

End-of-life is when technology is no longer supported by the manufacturer or software creator. Imagine it as like driving a car that hasn’t has a service in years. Yeah, it might run for a bit, but it is going to breakdown sooner or later and probably at the worst possible time.

Cyber security is a huge concern, especially when it comes to your business. This study also found that 65% of business leaders worry about cyber attacks and 56% admit that they find protecting their business a challenge. This is especially concerning when factoring in end-of-life software and technology.

You can’t control when or even if your business comes under attach from cyber criminals, but you can endure that your business is prepared for it. The best way to do this is by keeping your IT systems up to date and investing in the right security tools to protect your systems.

So how can you ensure that your business is safe and ready for the future?

  1. Look at your current setup and assess what needs to change. Is your tech starting to slow down? Is it time to replace your hardware or software? Do you need to update anything?
  2. If there are areas that need updating, do not wait until the stop working, think ahead to avoid unnecessary down time or making your system vulnerable.
  3. Make sure that your team are trained on cyber hygiene and the latest systems. Your team is your first line of defence.
