Auto-launch at start-up.
Let me give you this dreamy scenario: You come in to work, get a coffee and sit down at your computer, all you have to do is turn it on and everything is ready for you at your fingertips. All the apps you need for the day are already open and ready for you. Wouldn’t that be useful?
Well, I have some great news for you – Windows 11 lets you set your favourite and most used apps to launch automatically when you log in! productivity is just a click away.
Luckily setting it up is easy. For a lot of app you can set up auto-launch like this;
- Go to settings
- Click ‘apps’
- Then select start-up
Here you will see a list of apps that support auto-launch. From here all you have to do is toggle on or off depending on which apps you would like to automatically open and others you don’t. easy as that! The ones you toggle on will be ready for you the next time you start your computer.
If an app doesn’t appear in the start-up area of settings, don’t worry, you can set it up another way;
- Head to your folders/files
- In the search bar type start-up
- Open the start up folder then hit the windows key and R
- In the popup type in shell:startup
- Click OK
- From here you should have a folder open on your screen, now all you have to do is find your chosen app in your program files (follow step one and two but type in programs instead)
- Now simply drag your chosen app into the start-up folder and you should be good to go!
We realise this way sounds a lot more technical and scary so if the thought of doing this makes you shudder- don’t worry, we can do it for you!
There is one thing to keep in mind about start up apps though. While is might be tempting to get all of your favourite apps to start up automatically, having too many trying to launch at once can slow your computer down. We would recommend just sticking to the essentials.
