Could a criminal send email as your company?
If your domain's email security records are missing or weak, anyone can send convincing emails that appear to come from you. They could target your customers, your suppliers or even your own staff. It's how most invoice fraud starts. Check your domain in ten seconds. No signup needed to see your score.
Check your domain
Checks run against your domain's public DNS records. These are the same records every mail server on the internet reads. Nothing is sent to or from your mailboxes.
What we found on
What to do, in order
Three records stand between your brand and impersonation
SPF: who may send
A public list of the servers allowed to send email as your domain. Without it, any computer on the internet can claim to be you, and receiving servers have no reason to doubt it.
DKIM: proof it's really you
A digital signature added to every message you send. Recipients check it against your public key, proving the email genuinely came from your systems and wasn't altered on the way.
DMARC: what happens to fakes
The enforcement layer. It tells the world's mail servers what to do with messages that fail the checks above: let them through, quarantine them, or reject them outright. Most UK small businesses have no DMARC at all.
The real-world risk
Invoice fraud almost always starts with a spoofed email: "we've changed our bank details" sent to your customer, apparently from you. Weak email security makes that email indistinguishable from a real one.
It affects deliverability too
Google and Microsoft now require SPF and DMARC from bulk senders, and quietly distrust domains without them. Missing records are a common reason legitimate quotes and invoices land in spam.
Fixes are quick when they're done right
These are DNS records, not new software. Most fixes take under an hour for someone who's done them before. Done wrong, though, they can block your own legitimate email. The order and testing matter.
