Clear, tailored pricing

Managed IT support pricing.

We do not publish a one-size-fits-all price because the responsibility, complexity and support required differ between businesses. This page explains what shapes your quote, what should be included and our two managed service models.

Managed services only. No hourly break-fix and no quote until the responsibility is clear.

Scopedefines the work included
Ownershipdefines who carries the risk
Contextturns both into a useful quote
Why prices differ

Two businesses with the same headcount can need completely different IT services.

A sensible proposal starts by understanding the environment and the responsibility—not applying a generic rate to a user total.

01 / SCALE

People, devices and locations

The number of users matters, but so does the mix of devices, offices, remote workers and working patterns behind them.

02 / OWNERSHIP

What you want us to run

Helpdesk access is a smaller responsibility than monitoring, maintenance, suppliers, Microsoft 365, security and ongoing improvement.

03 / RISK

Security and compliance

Customer expectations, insurance, Cyber Essentials, sensitive data and recovery needs all influence the protection and evidence required.

04 / COMPLEXITY

Systems, change and support cover

Legacy technology, specialist applications, multiple suppliers, unusual service hours and upcoming projects change the work involved.

Why we do not offer break-fix

Break-fix prices the incident. Managed services take responsibility for the outcome.

Reactive support is shown here as a contrast—not as a West View IT service. Our model includes the ongoing work that prevents problems and improves the environment.

NOT OFFERED BY WEST VIEW IT
Reactive / break-fix

The business calls after something has already gone wrong.

The visible cost is usually an hourly charge, block of time or limited support agreement. Monitoring, maintenance, security, documentation and improvement may sit elsewhere—or nowhere.

  • Spend changes with the number of problems
  • Prevention may not be part of the agreement
  • Business risk often stays with you
THE WEST VIEW IT WAY
Managed services only

The ongoing work is included before the phone rings.

The fee covers an agreed service: support, monitoring, maintenance, security, Microsoft 365 management, documentation and responsibility for keeping the environment healthy.

  • Spend is connected to a defined service
  • Prevention and improvement are part of the work
  • Operational ownership moves to the provider
Our managed service models

Two ways to work with West View IT.

Both are ongoing managed services. The difference is whether West View leads your whole IT function or works alongside the people already responsible for it.

THE DECIDING QUESTION Do you already have an internal IT manager or team?

CONTEXT, NOT SERVICES

Break-fix and another internal hire are shown below only to keep the commercial comparison honest.

CONTEXT ONLY / NOT OFFERED

Reactive or break-fix support

Cost pattern
Variable and incident-led
What it buys
Access to help when something breaks
The business still carries
Prevention, planning, security oversight and continuity
Shown only to explain why a break-fix quote is not comparable
BENCHMARK ONLY

Another internal hire

Cost pattern
Employment, tooling and development commitment
You are buying
One person’s time, knowledge and internal focus
You still carry
Absence, recruitment, management and specialist gaps
Used to benchmark the full commitment against co-management
Benchmarking co-management against hiring

A salary is only one line in the internal-hire comparison.

The useful question is whether you need another permanent generalist, or access to a broader set of capabilities around the team you already trust.

Compare the support models
FULL COMMITMENTCompare like with like
EMPLOYMENT

Salary, employer costs, recruitment, onboarding and management time

CONTINUITY

Holiday, sickness, retention risk and who carries urgent work during absence

CAPABILITY

Microsoft 365, cyber security, networking, projects and difficult escalations

TOOLS

Monitoring, security, documentation, training and supplier relationships

CAPACITY

Whether one role can absorb busy periods, growth and major change

Compare quotes properly

A monthly figure means very little until you know what sits behind it.

A useful proposal makes the service boundary visible, exposes the gaps and gives you enough information to compare providers fairly.

WHAT A PROPER QUOTE INCLUDES

The managed service

  • Who and what is covered
  • Support hours and response expectations
  • Monitoring, maintenance and security included
  • Microsoft 365 and supplier responsibilities
  • Reporting, reviews and ongoing improvement
RED FLAGS IN CHEAPER QUOTES

Look beyond the headline

  • Hourly billing on top of the monthly fee
  • “Best efforts” instead of measurable expectations
  • Backups with no evidence of test restores
  • No clear owner for security alerts or follow-up
  • Unclear onboarding, project or exit charges
QUESTIONS TO ASK ANY PROVIDER

Make the gaps visible

  • What is specifically not included?
  • How are response times measured and reported?
  • When was a client backup last test-restored?
  • Who answers the phone and owns escalation?
  • How do we leave or transfer the service?
WHY FIXED FEE FITS MANAGED IT

Prevention should be the incentive.

When the agreed service is covered by a clear ongoing fee, both sides benefit from fewer problems, better maintenance and steady improvement—not from creating another bill every time something breaks.

How we reach a price

Understand first. Scope second. Price third.

01

Understand the business

We learn about your people, systems, risks, current support and what keeps getting in the way.

02

Map the responsibility

We make clear what stays with you, what moves to us and where any shared handover sits.

03

Build the proposal

You receive a clear service and commercial commitment shaped around that real boundary.

Straight answers

A useful price starts with a useful definition of the service.

Bring your current invoice, an existing proposal or simply the problem you are trying to solve. We will help make the comparison clearer.

Why do you not publish a single IT support price?

A single figure is only meaningful when the responsibility behind it is clear. User numbers matter, but so do security requirements, existing systems, internal capability, sites, suppliers and the amount of operational ownership being transferred.

Does West View IT offer pay-as-you-go or break-fix IT support?

No. West View IT provides managed services only. We work through a fully managed service or a co-managed partnership with your internal IT team. Reactive support appears on this page only to explain why its pricing model is not comparable with managed responsibility.

Is co-managed IT support cheaper than hiring another person?

It is a different commitment rather than a like-for-like replacement. Co-management can add several technical disciplines, absence cover and extra capacity without asking one new employee to cover every gap. The right comparison includes the full employment and capability picture, not salary alone.

What usually changes the price of managed IT support?

The main drivers are the number of people and devices, the systems and sites involved, the security and compliance standard, the support hours, project requirements and how much responsibility your provider is expected to own.

Can you compare a proposal with our current IT costs?

Yes. Bring your current provider invoice, internal staffing commitment and any regular extras. We can help separate the visible fee from the work, tools, risks and gaps sitting outside it.

Will we receive a clear fixed proposal?

Yes. Once the environment and responsibility split are understood, we provide a clear scope showing what is included, what remains with your team, any project work and the ongoing commercial commitment.
